Episode 31
Navigating Divorce and Pursuing Her Purpose To Become A Disability Advocate
Robin is a single mother who has spent the last several years charting a new course after her marriage of nearly 2 decades ended. She hopes to continue to find ways to contribute to her community while giving her children the best version of herself. The journey of raising three neurospicy and medically complex kids, while navigating her own disabilities has led her down the path of disability advocacy. That has included going back to college after a 20-year break and being a disability advocate by starting the ADA podcast that promotes candid discussions about what it is like living with disabilities in today’s world.
In this episode, Robin opens up about the moment she knew it was time to end her marriage and the strength she found to move forward while navigating the complexities of parenting her three special needs kids. She emphasizes the importance of building a supportive community, managing the relationship between her children and their father, who has mental health challenges, and overcoming the financial obstacles that often accompany divorce. Robin’s story is one of resilience, empowerment, and the pursuit of a life where she can give her children the best version of herself.
